About Us: Mercy Center is a nonprofit organization based in the South Bronx, dedicated to empowering the immigrant community through English-language education and support services.

The Opportunity: We are currently seeking passionate ESOL instructors and volunteers to teach beginner-level English classes in person. This is more than just a teaching role—it’s a meaningful opportunity to uplift and empower individuals through language, connection, and community.

Position Details

  • Role: ESOL Instructor (Paid) or Volunteer
  • Rate: $40/hour (for instructors)
  • Schedule: Morning and Saturday classes available
  • Location: In-person, South Bronx

What We’re Looking For

  • Proficient English speakers with strong grammar and language skills
  • Experienced educators who thrive in multicultural environments
  • Passionate individuals committed to supporting immigrant communities
  • ESL teaching experience required; TESOL/CELTA certification highly preferred

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach English using a communicative language teaching (CLT) approach
  • Adapt and implement lesson plans from a standards-based curriculum
  • Use digital tools for instruction, communication, and attendance tracking
  • Report to the Director of Adult Education and Workforce Development

Mon – Fri 9:00 am to 1:00 pm or

Saturday 9:00 am- 3:00 pm

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $40.00 per hour
