Capital Campaign

Since 1990, Mercy Center has been a beacon of hope, education, and empowerment in the South Bronx. For 25 years, our home on East 145th Street has welcomed thousands of women, men, children, and families each year, offering education, workforce development, immigration services, and youth programming to a community in need.

Today, Mercy Center stands at an important moment of renewal and growth. As our 145th Street building nears its 25th anniversary, it requires critical investment, including roof work, tile repairs, and wall restoration, to remain safe, dignified, and welcoming for the families who walk through our doors each day. At the same time, we are preparing to relocate our second site to La Central, 435 Westchester Avenue, where we’ve secured a 15-year lease that will provide the stability and space needed for the next chapter of our work.

Through the Circle of Mercy Capital Campaign, we are raising $250,000 over three years (2026–2029) to support both priorities: preserving our longtime 145th Street home and, at La Central, complementing the owner’s planned $1.2 million base build with the furnishings, technology, classroom enhancements, and welcoming touches needed to create a modern, safe facility, one that will allow Mercy Center to expand programs and serve even more participants in the years ahead.

Donors who give $500 or more will join the Circle of Mercy Building Society and be recognized with a personalized tribute displayed throughout our renewed spaces.

Funds from the Capital Campaign will be used for projects including:

• Community Space Enhancements at Both Sites
• Classroom and Program Enhancements at Both Sites

• 4,256 individuals served in FY25
• 1,580 adults enrolled in ESOL and workforce development classes
• 139 students participating in over 17,933 hours of youth programming
• 392 job seekers supported with training and coaching
• 1,500+ participants receiving legal screenings
