Happy Earth Day! 🌎

Today we celebrate our planet and renew our commitment to protecting the environment, especially for marginalized communities like the South Bronx.

For decades, the South Bronx has faced disproportionate environmental burdens like pollution, toxic facilities, and poor air quality, which has presented serious challenges to the public health outlook of the community. Tragically, this environmental injustice persists.

At Mercy Center, we believe all people deserve to live, work, and raise families in safe, sustainable communities. On this Earth Day, we rededicate ourselves to uplifting the South Bronx as we collectively build a more just, habitable world for present and future generations. Our environmental fight is one of mercy, compassion and human dignity."

Our Level 3 ESOL students engaged with actors from the Educational Theater of New York. Students asked questions, formed conclusions and inquire about the background f the characters in two plays.

Thank you @etny_arts for the warm welcome! Our students enjoyed the plays!

We asked the city of New York to continue funding Adult Literacy Education programs and expand it to reach and serve additional demand.
