Happy National Nonprofit Day!

Today we're celebrating the nonprofit orgs doing incredible work across NYC, including some of our favorite partners and neighbors.

@qualitasoflife brings financial education to Hispanic families across all five boroughs, including right here in the South Bronx through our Familia Adelante program.

@fiverchildrensfoundation sticks with kids for a 10-year journey of academic coaching and support.

@reddepueblostrasnacionales right down the block from us, organizing mutual aid and cultural events rooted in indigenous tradition.

We are incredibly grateful for these orgs and everything they do for our neighborhoods.

To celebrate the start of summer, 19 Familia Adelante families came together on June 13 and June 27 for our annual Family Days at the scenic Marydell Faith & Life Center in Nyack, New York. Guided by our dedicated youth staff and family workers, families enjoyed a full day of outdoor fun, including team-building activities, relay races, hiking, swimming, sports, and games. Parents also participated in a financial wellness workshop presented by our partner, Qualitas of Life Foundation. Family Days offers families a meaningful opportunity to relax, reconnect, and create lasting memories together in the outdoors.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Sister Patricia Vetrano, RSM, one of Mercy Center’s dearest friends and longtime champions.

Sister Pat was part of Mercy Center’s story from the very beginning, standing with us at the groundbreaking of our 145th Street home, blessing our second site, and later serving as a devoted board member.

We remember her warmth, gentle presence, deep spirituality, and lifelong commitment to service and mercy. Sister Pat will be deeply missed.

Please join us in keeping her family, friends, and the Sisters of Mercy community in your prayers.

Mercy Center is here to help you through the application process. We can assist with creating or updating your MySchools account, completing the application, choosing programs that best fit your family, and reviewing other program options.

Today, Mercy Center extends our heartfelt gratitude to Noemie Gerreth, Co-Director of Immigration and Asylum Seeker Programs, as she leaves Mercy Center for another opportunity.

During her time with us, Noemie has helped more than 1,000 participants as they navigated complex immigration and asylum processes. Her compassion, dedication, and steady commitment have made a lasting impact on individuals and families seeking safety, stability, and hope.

Reflecting on her time at Mercy Center, Noemie shared:

“My time at Mercy Center has been incredibly meaningful. It has been a privilege to support individuals and families navigating the asylum process and to witness their resilience, courage, and determination.
