Mercy Center is a comprehensive community center that has been serving women, men and their families in the South Bronx, NY for over 35 years. We reach approximately 4,500 mostly immigrant participants annually through programs in six core areas: adult education and workforce development; immigration and asylum seeker programs; social services; family support programs; youth programs; and community education/events. We are seeking to fill the newly-created position of Director of Data & Evaluation. Reporting to the Associate Executive Director, the successful candidate will oversee the implementation and maintenance of Mercy Center’s new centralized, low-code, relational database; work with program leaders to advance current metrics of program performance; and conduct data analysis with the goal of quality assurance. This is a full-time, 40 hour/week hybrid position.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of Mercy Center’s new centralized relational database. Serve as primary liaison between Mercy Center and database developer, Appian Corporation, to ensure that the database meets the organization’s developing needs
- Work with outside agencies/funders (such as NYC DYCD and DSS/HRA) to develop and maintain data sharing between their databases and Mercy Center’s Appian database
- With senior program staff, co-lead the development and refinement of program key performance indicators (KPIs)
- With senior program staff, advance the integration of outcome measurement and data analysis as part of regular program operations
- Track and review KPIs to evaluate progress towards achievement of program goals and to identify areas in need of improvement
- Design custom data collection methods and reporting structures in collaboration with senior program staff
- Perform quantitative and qualitative program data analysis and prepare reports
- Perform quality control checks of program data on a regular basis to ensure data integrity and quality
- Develop staff training materials and train program staff on data entry procedures and protocols; meet with staff as needed to review data quality
- Create data visualizations to reveal trends, outliers and patterns in Mercy Center’s programs to effectively communicate organizational impact
- Assist with preparation of funding proposals and other reports, as needed
- Participate in Mercy Center staff meetings and other organization-wide meetings and activities
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in related field preferred
- 7+ years of relevant professional experience (e.g. reporting, data quality assurance, outcomes measurement)
- Experience with creating and/or managing web-based CRM systems; experience with the Appian platform preferred
- Ability to communicate data-related concepts for diverse stakeholders, ranging from program staff to external technical vendors
- Experience with low-code platforms, relational database maintenance and reporting using queries, and/or data visualization tools preferred
- Experience working in a nonprofit, social services environment preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills including patience and flexibility when working with non-technical staff
