Support Us Today

The Annual Fund provides critical financial support for every aspect of Mercy Center’s programs. Every donation helps sustain our free Adult Education/Workforce Development Programs, Family and Youth Programs, Social Services, and Immigration Services.

The support which you offer through your annual gift makes it possible for us to bridge the gap between the revenues received from government grants, foundation and corporate support, and the actual cost of providing quality services for each family.

"Just like the joy of basking in sunlight, there is great joy in basking in the light that emanates from the hearts of people involved in a good and generous work. And so it is at Mercy Center - participants, friends, staff, supporters, volunteers, foundations.”

JOSEPH S. DIRR

Co-Director Mercy Center 2003-2011

WHO WE ARE

Sister Mary Ann Dirr Legacy Circle

Sister Mary Ann Dirr, RSM, was a woman of deep faith and compassion who dedicated her life to walking alongside those in need. Guided by the values of the Sisters of Mercy, she founded Mercy Center in 1990 with a vision of hope, dignity, and empowerment for women and families in the South Bronx.

Believing in the inherent worth of every person, Sister Mary Ann created a space where immigrant women, survivors of violence, and families struggling with poverty could find community, strength, and the tools to transform their lives.

From its humble beginnings in a small classroom at a local school, Mercy Center grew under her leadership into a vital community anchor, offering programs in English language learning, parenting, immigration legal services, and more.

Her legacy lives on in every woman who discovers her voice, in every child given a brighter future, in every man who has learned to live a more peaceful and healthy life, and in the unwavering sense of welcome and belonging that defines Mercy Center today.

WHO WE ARE

John Bucki SJ Youth Fund

In tribute to Fr. John Bucki, SJ, we honor his boundless dedication to justice and faith. His impact resonated from St. Francis Xavier to the youth of the South Bronx.

John fervently promoted Mercy Center’s mission, organizing the Week of Winter Service and fostering participant engagement in our youth program.

The John Bucki SJ Youth Fund upholds his legacy, providing a sanctuary for marginalized youth. Your support sustains this vital initiative, ensuring John’s spirit of service endures.

Join us in honoring his memory and supporting the John Bucki SJ Youth Fund at Mercy Center.
