Eid Mubarak from Mercy Center.

Today, we recognize and celebrate Eid and honor the faith, reflection, and community that Ramadan inspires.

One staff member shared:

“This Ramadan, as a Catholic, I chose to fast in solidarity with my Muslim community. It has been a humbling experience to challenge my body, center my mind, and gain a deeper sense of intention. This journey has reminded me that across faiths and cultures, we grow together when we choose empathy, understanding, and shared humanity. As Ramadan draws to a close and Eid invites new beginnings, I carry a sense of renewed purpose to stand with our immigrant community, build connections, and keep learning from one another in this city of many languages and stories.”

Another shared:

“Ramadan is a blessed month that unites the community and brings us closer to God. It is an extraordinary challenge in an environment with different religions and cultures, we realize that despite the daily struggles of life, someone is watching over us, whether we are Muslim or Christian. We also all share something in common: faith and humanity. Eid is not just a celebration; it is a time of kindness, sacrifice, and forgiveness.”

Today on Random Acts of Kindness Day, we are celebrating a beautiful act of generosity from within our own community 💛

One of our Adult Education and Workforce Development participants was recently hired at a renowned bakery in lower Manhattan. Now, after his shifts, he sometimes stops by Mercy Center with baked treats for his fellow students. He chooses to remain anonymous, giving simply out of gratitude and a desire to uplift others as he was once uplifted.

After a long school day, Mercy Center’s afterschool students have space to slow down, explore, and create. Recently, grades 2 to 4 participated in a special art workshop led by Maureen Bennett, where they designed personal mandalas and reflected on questions like “Who am I?” and “What makes me special?”

Through creativity and self expression, our STEAM program helps students build confidence, think critically, and discover that curiosity is a powerful tool for learning.

🏈 The results are in! Congratulations to our Big Game Raffle winner Christopher Sullivan and thank you to everyone who participated and tuned in to our live drawing.

With 406 tickets sold, this year’s raffle raised over $29,000 to support Mercy Center’s vital programs, impacting more than 4,200 participants in the South Bronx.

We’re so grateful to our Board, supporters, and Event Chair Artie Lange for making this another incredible Big Game moment.
